You don't need to use the plugins to create citations! Zotero offers the option to manually copy citations to your clipboard right from your library.
1. Right-click on the source you'd like to cite.
2. Select 'Create Bibliography from Item.'
3. Use the pop-up to choose your desired citation style.
4. Under 'Output Mode,' select either 'Citations' or 'Bibliography.'
'Citations' creates an in-line citation.
'Bibliography' creates a bibliographic citation.
5. Under 'Output Mode,' select 'Copy to Clipboard.'
6. Paste your citation into your document.
