ArcGIS StoryMaps

Interactive digital storytelling tool

Welcome!

StoryMaps is a digital storytelling tool that uses text, maps, multimedia, and more to create an interactive narrative that can illustrate the results of a research project, present a historical chronology, function as an interactive exhibit, or provide geographic context to any project.  Once created, a StoryMap can have different levels of privacy (you alone, your organization, or everyone) and it can be shared on socal media or via embed codes or links.  StoryMaps is an application within ArcGIS, a geographic information system software from Esri.

You have free access to it as an Oxy student, faculty, or staff!  Keep reading to learn how to get started!

How do I get started?

If you don't have an account:

If you created an Oxy ArcGIS/StoryMaps account PRIOR to January 1, 2025:

  • Log in at the Esri ArcGIS login page
    • Contact us via email at tlrs@oxy.edu if you've forgotten your login credentials.
      • Your username is probably [the name in your email]_occidental

IMPORTANT: If you see an option for Google sign-in on the login page, DO NOT USE IT.  That will take you to a non Oxy version of ArcGIS that has limited capabilities and no way to connect it to your official Oxy ArcGIS StoryMaps account.
