Zotero setup: Archiving a web page

How to install Zotero and its associated plugins, as well as, how to use Zotero efficiently.

Archiving a web page (standalone version of Zotero)

If you are using the standalone version of Zotero it is still easy to save web pages.

  • Go to the web page you would like to save
  • Right-click (ctrl + click if you are using a Mac) anywhere on the web page and select Zotero Connector -- Save to Zotero (Web page):

  • A bibliographic citation for this web page will now be in your Zotero library. Add descriptive information (such as author) to this citation as appropriate:
  • To view the web page as it was at the time you archived it click on the snapshot which is attached to the Zotero record. The snapshot will appear as a "child" item underneath the Zotero record in the middle pane of the Zotero library:

Archiving a web page (Firefox browser)

The Zotero Connector that works with your web browser allows you to save "snapshots" of web pages for later reference. To do this follow these steps:

  • Go to the web page you would like to archive
  • Select the Save to Zotero button (page icon) in the upper right corner of the browser window:

  • A bibliographic citation for this web page will now be in your Zotero library. Add descriptive information (such as author name) to this citation as appropriate.
  • To view the web page as it was at the time you archived it click on the snapshot which is attached to the Zotero record for the web page. The snapshot will appear as a "child" item underneath the Zotero record in the middle pane of the Zotero library:
